Oct 14. 2018- I’ve always been terrified of gyms. I’ve always been told I’m skinny, ‘you don’t need to work out.’ I hate being looked at, instantly judged and feeling uncomfortable in my own skin. When I graduated college, I was ready for a change. I decided to join crossfit thinking I definitely can do this if I set my mind to it, but even if I don’t think I can, I have to and I will. Even the name of the crossfit gym… ‘unlimited potential’ right there within itself inspires me daily. I’ve grown to love who I work out with because no one is ‘like me’ in terms of size, age, weight, mindset, etc. I have no one to compare myself to in the box but myself, and I’m able to recognize that every individual is different and has different goals. I am motivated and pushed every day by those surrounding me. They know my strengths, my weaknesses, how to build me up on my days where I’m not as into it, and how to be my ‘hype team’ when I need it most. It’s no longer just “a gym” I go to. It’s a community, a family, where we hold each other accountable. It’s part of my daily routine, who I am, and a reminder of how far I’ve come and how I continue to grow every day.
